I have a panny plasma with the AR coating, and you can still see the reflection of the windows when the blinds are closed and especially the ceiling light if it is on behind the tv. I would guess the UT model without the AR would be even worse.
That said, I knew what I was getting into and mostly watch tv at night. There's no better picture for the price. |

It was still showing $1050 for me too, so I ordered one on Sunday. My confirmation email says it is on back order; but the estimated ship date is 1-3 days. There has been no change in status since I placed the order. I'm hoping the Panasonic folks had yesterday off because of Columbus Day and it gets shipped this week.
I will continue to watch it. If I find something better in the meantime I will order it and cancel this order. |

I swear I think It depends on when you signed up for the EPP. I mentioned this in the 50ut50 thread as well. When I just logged in I got $1049 all the way through check out.
Also I mentioned trying to get your local stores to price match. A few issues with shipping or cracked tvs coming in. I decided to take my chances local first and it payed off 50ut50 for $680. I'm sure this can replicated for the 60 inch |

I tried a PM with both Paul's and Amazon and were shut down by both, so I went the EPP route. Neither Paul's nor Amazon would price match because EPP requires a membership and they cannot view the price online without an account.
I had to call Panasonic yesterday to find out about my order. Apparently by ordering Sunday I missed the cutoff and have to wait until next week when a new shipment arrives before they can ship my TV to me. Estimated ship date Mon-Wed. In the mean time I have the option to cancel the order, so I might try other stores.

*Update*: Went to a local Sears store last night because the Sears website said they had them in stock, but they didn't. The salesperson told me that this TV is a special order and if I ordered it, it would not arrive until 11/4. I didnt even try the PM after hearing that.
He did offer me an open box/customer return Sharp 70" LED TV (Model: LC70LE640U) for $1399.99 (regularly $2499.99), but I declined because of the bad reviews I found online. Now I remember why I don't shop at Sears or BB. Funny, even though I hardly ever buy anything from BB, I went to the BB website to review their price match policy. After review their policy and now reading your comments, I wont even pursue it. Maybe I will try Sears, but I'm not holding out much hope either. Last edited by GTO455; 10-11-2012 at 09:51 AM.. Just received my unit today, after waiting about 3 weeks. I have to say it was worth the wait. The colors on this TV are amazing right out of the box, and the Viera config software is easy to use (I think it is much better than the software than comes with the Samsung TV's).
Since I have this is a basement room with low light, I'm not too concerned about glare. However, as others have mentioned this TV will not do well in a brightly lit room. The glare/reflection is quite apparent. |
