just got a 99 cent charge on my credit card today from Freedom Pop to keep the service active...I just used it though a few weeks ago, hmm..i'll have to investigate this further

Wow its really a rip off then for those who actually pay for monthly limits. I mean us using the free 1gb from them might not have any right to truly complain but what about those people who pay? Thats a stupid policy that kills off data extremely fast.

I also noticed something weird. Today for 45 minutes of pandora streaming it used up 64mb of data according to data usage details. And that is all I did, stream pandora. But doesn't pandora app stream at 64kbps which would equal what 28 or 29mb an hour? Seems something is off here.

Pandora: How did you stream it? Dekstop/Laptop? Are you a paid subscriber?

The reason I ask is because during that streaming (especially on a computer, but even on devices like an iPad/iPhone/etc.) there is constant advertisements that will pop up and change throughout your session(s). That, combined with the music, can easily add up.

"Pandora on the Web plays 64k AAC+ for free listeners and 192k for Pandora One subscribers. All in-home devices play 128k audio, and mobile devices receive a variety of different rates depending on the capability of the device and the network they are on, but never more than 64k AAC+."

They are rip off. I returned it withing a month. They are suckers.

yeah was using my ipod. but even with advertisements i doubt it should be as much as it was.

Charged a restocking fee for a spotless return on 1st Dec 12 (received $80.25 back). I've updated the WIKI to reflect this.

You're luckier than I am then. Because I've been requesting a refund for my MIA iPhone case, which I was charged $99 ALMOST A YEAR AGO.

I no longer have an iPhone that will fit this case, and yet they won't even dignify my refund request with a RESPONSE.

"Alert: Your account was previously cancelled. To reinstate the service, add a new Data Plan."

I didn't cancel my account. I used ~250 of the 1000MB available last month. I did turn automatic top-up to OFF. Is anybody else seeing the same thing?

EDIT: Called in and they re-activated my account. Must have been a system glitch.

I cannot confirm. I use very little data however. Maybe 150MB average over the last 3 billing cycles. So far this cycle with 6 days in i've used 25MB. Account is chugging along normally. Freedompop is a great deal but we'll see if i'll be singing their praises when it comes time to return the device due to LTE build out.

How did you word your complaint? They told me some bs story how a company charges them for "respolishing" the device so now they charge everyone else even if it's mint.

Returned a completely unopened, unused hotspot, on an account that was never activated, and got dinged for a 15% restocking fee.

I complained, but if that's all they end up taking me for I won't worry too much. My big concern, in addition to random charges and weird data accounting, is that they go out of business and I can't get anything back for the item.

I'll repeat "If it sounds too good to be true" a dozen times. The thing is, I could use a really cheap internet solution like this. But they advertise "FREE" everywhere, then proceed to nickel and dime everything, probably hoping to push people into the higher buckets. Is there any service like this that is pay per use? I'm looking at Ting with Hotspot, but I don't know how easy it would be to activate/deactivate for a particular month if I don't use it, and they charge a $6 fee.

What do you guys use for keeping track of your usage ? I see there is an app for checking usage on google play. anyone used it ?
