FreedomPop has no such schedule, like 5% deducted after 15 days use, etc. You're at the whim and mercy of whoever opens your box the day it arrives. IMHO, not a good way to do business at a time when forums like Slick Deals exists to allow people to post what a company is actually doing, as opposed to what they say they're doing. |

I called and asked them if my deposit was still a deposit. CSR said that anyone who had a deposit before is still on deposit. looks like this is just for going forward for new orders. Wouldn't say why they switched. I'm guessing just had it as deposit to drive early adopters. 30-day return 90-day warranty seems pretty normal to me. Plus if you're really worried they have that extended warranty thing you can add for a few bucks a month. |

i am one of those early adopters.
i returned it once they decided to change TOS with no notice they charged me almost $10 in restock fee for a device i had for like 3 weeks. i tried to get my CC to dispute on principal. CC wouldn't, as they just gave me the diff and ate the fee themselves.

Thanks for the heads up. I wish more people tried out FreedomPop to be honest. A lot of SDers complained about the 'free' service and gave it a bad rap, but if you aren't trying to get something for nothing, it is a pretty sweet deal imo. To me, most of the complainers are the people who download free apps and then complain about ads... if you paid like a regular customer, you wouldn't have to worry about ads smh. In the same vein, for the prices offered, they offer a decent no-contract service.
The only things I stream is Walking Dead, a movie here and there, and the occasional porno so I can easily maintain 10GB/mo for $10. (especially when I was paying $40/mo for 5GB w/ T-Mobile) It is much better than putting up with internet prices for Comcast/AT&T if ya ask me. |

Count me as a very happy FreedomPop customer. I use FP as a companion to my Page + smartphone. Using P+'s standard plan I get voice @ less than 4 cents/min. Page +'s data rates, however, are outrageous. Combine the two and add an app like Wifi Jumper to automatically switch your wifi to the strongest available and it's a sweet combo. I also use another sweet app called Onavo Extend which uses a VPN connection to route all your data through their servers which then compress it and save you data. So now I have a super cheap android phone plan and free data.
I might have to consider jumping onto the rollover option, but I'm not sure I need to, since I've never even come close to my 1GB of free data from FP.I had hoped to completely eliminate my cell bill using a VOIP app on my Android, but that didn't work out too well because, as I found out, FP's WIMAX coverage is too spotty to ensure I'd always get my calls, but I'm more than pleased with the combo of Page + with FreedomPop. |
