Your WimAx devices only have one year life left. Sprint is shuttering Wimax service in Nov 2015http://www.fiercewireless.com/sto...2014-10-07

Freedompop,

I am a brand-new customer to FreedomPop, and I have attempted to contact customer service for the past four days straight with one or more e-mails per day with no answer at the time of this post -- so I am reaching out to you here since you have a presence in a public forum.

Issue #1: I've also become a member of the freedomPop forums; however, other than reading posts it will not let me start a new thread or reply posts of a similar nature.Confused

I ordered two devices, both Samsung Galaxy 4's, one white, one black with priority handing for an extra fee. I also ordered the unlimited plan for both, as I figured that since I am already a Sprint User since 1997, using their network (which works best for me) at 67% with 1GB higher data speeds, but loss of off-network roaming, which I don't use 99% of the time since 2010.

Issue #2: According the website, both devices were allocated on the same date. I received the first device, the white one on Christmas Eve, while the device that allocated at the same time with priority handling has yet to be kitted and/or shipped at the time of this post.Mad

Issue #3: For the White S4, the charger that was included was DOA, while I had another charger and am currently using it. Please credit my account for the amount of the charger and/or provide pre-paid label so I may send charger back in exchange for one that actually works. Also no other standard gear one would expect with a phone from a phone company like headphones, manual, etc. Just a basic card for activation instructions.Confused

Issue #4: White S4, did not arrive with up-to-date applications, unknown to me, the time, it automatically downloaded several hundred MB of data over the air eating up precious data on the 3G network (I am a 1000' from the tower and get 2Mb d/l, 1Mb u/l speeds). So, when I went to work with 4G coverage, I was astonished to learn it would only get 0.5 Mb d/l, 1 Mb u/l speeds according to speedtest.net. I logged on to my account to see that 1.6 GB had already been used at 3G speeds, and 1 MB (megabyte) while the phone was in 4G LTE coverage, I was expecting almost 1.5 GB of 4G coverage, not none. I then added the app, which gave me 200 MB, the speedtest >3 hours after this revealed throughput up to 5 Mb d/l, and 3 Mb u/l or previous results depending on which 4G LTE tower the phone connected itself to.EEK!

Suggestion/Feedback: Please segregate the 3G and 4G LTE data pools for the 1G cap before throttling, just a suggestion after I read, after-the-fact, on how you handle data, like other companys do for limited any-time minutes (e.g. 4G) vs unlimited night/evening (e.g. 3G) minutes for voice calls on their networks.

Issue #5: Various reviews of the 'unlimited' plan for 19.99/mo indicated included hotspot functionality (I've tried the option in-phone, and using pdaNet as mentioned in your forums after the in-phone failed), neither is functional as a wi-fi tethered hotspot even after updating the PRL as mentioned in your forums. I intentionally spent the extra $200 on your phones to prevent any issues as it seemed this plan was not available on BYOD.Mad

See: http://blog.freedompop.com/ August 4th post where your company explicitly states "Tethering will also be included on certain FreedomPop LTE phones" as part of the $20 a month unlimited plan and confirmed in this independent reviews on cNet and other trusted sites. All mentioned throttling the data speeds once the 1GB data cap was met, but still worked at 3G speeds.

Now that I have complained, I will also go over the compliments/observations:

1: Voice call quality is better than my current handset with Sprint, in spite of negative reviews on the Internet, although there is a slightly longer perceptible lag 1/2 second is now about a second.bounce

2: The 3G data speeds are better than my current handset, and when 4G LTE kind of works, these are much better.Smilie

3: I asked Sprint to match your plan if I upgraded to Samsung 4S's, they couldn't, $50 / month per handset for unlimited 4G LTE is the best they could do per handset especially as it is using the same network -- go figure.Confused

In summary, if the hotspot issue is worked out, freedompop becomes responsive to my inquiries, and most importantly that the Black S4 is delivered ASAP (as it had priority handling at extra cost) I will likely migrate to FreedomPop, otherwise, I will return the device(s) and cancel within the 30-day window as I am still maintaining my Sprint plan concurrently for the month while evaluating FreedomPop.

I also have one additional question, if the aforementioned conditions can be met:

I plan on deactivating my current phone numbers and transferring them to new phones; however, I would like to keep the new phone numbers, as they are close to each other by registering my old handsets to your service and give them to our children (possible two additional accounts), basically reverse the phone numbers being assigned?

I don't like posting personal information on open forums, you may find my initial account my looking for the forum user name of "CaptJan" same as it is here, the last four digits of the phone number are 5448, and the other account has the same name and similar phone number with the last four digits being 5444 (only the last digit is different).

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and have a great Holiday.

Best Regards,
Jan

P.S. After reading the fair usage web page, the unlimited plan actually has caps on voice calls (2500 minutes) and text messages (5000), which we won't actually reach based on our historical usage, please confirm that the 3G (throttled) speeds are actually unlimited as well as data wasn't mentioned in the fine print but mentioned in the previously aforementioned blog of yours?

Yeah....sorry, definitely not the right place for this. Don't expect any results, and your post will likely be deleted.

I've tried to send a PM that apparently didn't go through, also sent yet another e-mail to support (at) freedompop (dot) com in yet another futile attempt to get some semblance of customer service from freedompop.

As I do like the phone and performance of the one phone that I have gotten so far.

Might just be a coincidence but a couple of days after I placed my order on FreedomPop, my card was stolen too and used at a toy website based out of the UK. I have had the card for about a year without any issues until now.
Same here. Never have had my card stolen in 10 years, and it happened 25 days after placing a freedompop order. WTF?
