is there such a thing as a 2 platter 3TB drive yet? if not, is there one on the horizon? I need something will very low power consumption and heat output for a 24/7 application and it seems these drives are not the best

How is this compared to the WD Green 3TB for JBOD streaming NAS 1080p MKV to WDTV Live Plus over E3000 and general multitasking NAS using FreeNAS?

the diff is that a bare wd drive has 2 years warranty a bare seagate only has one if you care

Though to stream a 1080p movie you really don't need more than 5MB/s. So for that is doesn't matter. |

wrong even SATA spec is 150MB/s, SATA II drives can transfer sequential easily in excess of that link [storagereview.com] bears it out, even higher rates possible RAID'ed 2) USB3.0 is spec'ed 600+ MB/s at but you easily lose that in handshaking overhead and error checking even with flash drives. a Patriot SuperSonic XT should not saturate USB.2.0 either but performs 25%-30% better under USB 3.0.
