Yes, because the volunteers gathering nearly 5,000 signatures in 4 weeks was proof positive that stoners just sit around and eat chips. I am not allowed attend a Jesse Jackson speech and scream "I'm sorry Mr. Jackson, your race card has been declined. Do you have another form of entitlement?" into a megaphone as soon as he finishes speaking.

Anyone can collect a bunch of bogus signatures when they promise them legal dope. |

Do you really have so little knowledge on how petition drive's work? Each and every one of the signatures was verified by the city clerk as being a lawful resident of city. We stayed within the bounds of state and federal law when writing the legislation. We where making it from a misdemeanor to a infraction. |

One of the details not in the article, had the council sent it to the voters and it passed (as expected) to amend or repeal the council would have had to wait six months, and have a 9-0 vote. Which strategy would you urge your fellow prohibitionists to pursue?
Imagine this was a concealed carry ordinance. You personally help secure the necessary signatures to put the proposal before the City Council, where they must either adopt it or put it to public vote (which both sides believe you would win). City Council, however, does not want the proposal to become law. So they adopt it, then rescind it 4 weeks later. No arguments from you about the City Council violating at least the spirit of the law or not acting in good faith? "You have not converted a man because you have silenced him." -- John Morley

If the federal govt can prohibit you from growing wheat for your family under the Commerce Clause, then a health insurance mandate seems like small potatoes. ![]() If you agree that the state should be able to dictate which humans you are legally allowed to fark & which you are not, then what, in your opinion couldn't the state govt prohibit?

you do know once a elected gov't stop representing the wishes of the people, the gov't either have become evil or has moved on to no longer being a democracy but instead become a dictatorship..
According to the Constitution, you have two choices VOTE them out or maybe exercise the ONLY reason the 2nd amendment was ever put into place by the FF |
