Yet another reason to not be an early adopter / iPhone 5
IPhone 5 WiFi bug leads to giant cellular data overages [cnn.com]NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Scores of iPhone 5 users hit Apple's support forums over the past week to exchange anecdotal reports on a scary bug: Their phones appeared to be sucking down cellular data even when they were connected to a Wi-Fi network, resulting in big overages as they blew through their monthly data caps. Apple hasn't publicly commented on how widespread the bug is, but the company confirmed its existence on Sunday when it pushed out a software update aimed at fixing it for customers on Verizon's network. ""I somehow managed to burn up 1.8gb of data over 5 days on my iphone 5," user Malc Mitch wrote last week on one Apple discussion board. "This had never happened in my past 4 years of owning an iPhone ... I can't believe I'm about to hit my full months data limit in 6 days when I connected to wifi 75% of the day."" WHOOPS. |

I preordered the iPhone 5. I received it on launch day in the mail. I don't think I have the bug that is being described because I have only used about 800 mb with wifi on since activating the phone. Note that I have downloaded some apps while away from home so that is likely where part of the 800 mb is coming from. I have a 2 GB monthly data limit.
![]() This is my first iPhone and I love it so much more than the several Android smartphones that I have owned over the years... Finally, no more sudden resets, freezing, and poor battery life. My iPhone can last for days on a single charge. My previous phone couldn't hold a charge for even 8 hours... ![]() Oh and before anyone calls me out as an "Apple fanboy," just note that this is my first ever Apple device. I own two Windows PC's and have never used a Mac OS.

Perhaps your Android phone did not get good battery life, but mine does. In fact, I can go one week without charging it, but I use the phone very little, maybe 5 calls per day. The other thing is that I never had my Android phone do resets, nor freeze. It may very well be that the iPhone suits you best, and it certainly is a good device, but it would be totally inaccurate to say that it's better than the Android phones, specially not by the margin you describe. I think that most techies would say that the Galaxy S3 is better. Just food for thought....... |

My buddy just told me to look at the iPhone prices on fleabay [ebay.com]. I can't believe people are paying $1,000 for a 16 gigger and $1,600 for a 64 gig model.
That's just plain insane. $500 is a bit steep, IMO, and $700 would be bordering on foolishness, but $1,000 and more for a phone that doesn't cook and clean the house, is absolutely out of the question. Apple has got a high percentage of the market, completely brainwashed into fanboys (and girls). |

I've found that being a 1st gen adopter on any apple product is not without it's risks. I've had at least one major issue with every apple product I've purchased.

![]() Random rant. Sorry. As I've always said, Apple makes a great phone with a buttery smooth and easy to use UI (although really how hard is it to smoothly move only icons around ). It's also great for people that don't like to play around with settings. widgets, launchers etc.; who just use a phone for simple things; who also like to pay a premium and feel it's a status symbol. I also have no problem with dealing with the bugs of being an early adopter. The problem is the handcuffs and limitations Apple puts on you. Even when jailbroken, their phones are much more limiting. Although I do like the way they loosen the cuffs just a little with each iteration giving users the appearance that they're getting their money's worth and slowly giving you what other phone operating systems had from the beginning, For example, see iLinky [technologizer.com] about iPhone 3.0 and how wonderful Apple was giving these things to its users. [/rant] ![]() . |

I was expecting to come in and see the Purple Lens iPhone 5 pictures.
Attached are two pictures, left is an iPhone 5, right is an iPhone 4. ![]() The best part about all that...they have come back with AGAIN saying "You are holding it wrong"...SERIOUSLY! That is the thing that gets me the most, we are allowing a company to sell broken products at a high cost because of the status we feel we gain... Then other companies have to try to make a buck somewhere else and have to cut corners to keep costs down or just take a loss to try to put out superior hardware at lower profits.

that's the thing Also its not just people in the USA, oversea bidders are also looking to get these phones. |
