This router is great, but not when you live in an apartment with many other router around. Probably due to interference, I was getting very weak signal even just 1 room away from the router when I was living in an apartment. Now I moved to a house, all of a sudden I am at full bar again all the way across the house. But function vs price wise... nothing beats it, especially with tomato. Also... unless you did something really really out of the picture, this router is pretty much impossible to brick.

Don't forget a great version that's packed with features, stable and updated often. Tomato by Shibby.

I had this router and had to replace it 5 different times because it kept failing. Kept dropping wireless signal, and at times my computers couldn't even find a broadcast signal.
Oh, and it takes a freaking computer science degree to understand how to mod it. If you have oodles and oodles of time, then go for it. By far, this was the most frustrating router I have ever owned. And ASUS tech support is horrendous in every way. I finally switched to DLink Dir-655 and it was a breeze to set up and I'm getting faster speeds than I'm paying for. I couldn't be happier! |
