Due to my recent experience with Freedompop, I am NO LONGER RECOMMENDING this company. Mad

The company started off with potential but after many sleazy experiences I can definitively say that they are acting in bad faith and not to be trusted.
Please do your own due diligence but my $0.02 is certainly,
STAY AWAY! DO NOT TRY.

P.S.- Early adopters who deposited should probably contact them about a refund. They screwed us. http://slickdeals.net/f/5276432-freedompop-friends?v=1&p=79497123#post79497123

To invite people
  • On FreedomPop website, go to EARN FREE > Freedom Friends.
  • Click on "Invite by Email Address" (below Gmail icon).
  • Copy from the list (of people who want to be invited) below, and paste onto FreedomPop websaite.
  • Click on "Invite Friends Now!".
  • If you get an error, make sure the last e-mail does not end with a comma.
  • Do NOT e-mail people directly!
  • Do NOT invite people via the Share Data link! It will request 50 mb from that person.
To have people invite you
  • On FreedomPop website, MY ACCOUNT > Account Settings, "Friend Requests" should be Yes.
  • Click on "Edit Contents" (at the bottom) of this Wiki, FIRST add a comma to the last e-mail.
THEN add your e-mail on the next line WITHOUT a comma in the end.
  • If you are too new to Slickdeals and cannot edit this Wiki, you can try to "Post Reply", with your e-mail (and do NOT quote anything), to this thread.
  • Be careful not to accept an invite that includes the phrase "and has requested that you share 50." That person will take 50 mb from your account for the month.
Please delete your e-mail from the list below after you have enough
  • You can have many friends, but ONLY THE FIRST 10 friends (each with a non-deactivated account) count.
  • Because you cannot get more than 500MB through "friends" anyway, please delete your e-mail from the list below after you have enough.
If you're a registered slickdeals member, you can edit this post and add your freedompop-registered email.

To change your name
  • On FreedomPop website, MY ACCOUNT > Account Settings, click on EDIT next to "Contact Information".
  • For example, your last name can appear as just "L" or "L 1".

I just cancelled my Freedom Sleeve pre-order and decided to go with the Photon. Apparently active immediately even though I don't have the device yet, so hopefully I can start adding friends now.

Added a 60 some of people from CSV and WiKi. My email is in yahoo : my3xbin

Hoping to get friendly with a bunch of people very quickly. Just curious, can I get into fight with these 'new friends' in near future and Un-Friend them? Later, down the road, have a remorse and add them back as my buddy?

Maybe I don't have enough rep power? I only see add to list, mod alert, reply, multi-quote, quote at the top right of the Wiki.

Folks, you should check out the other FreedomPop link on Slickdeals. Yes, you'll get dizzy reading that link. Seems like the 1000MB may or may not last you a month. I received my USB yesterday and tried it out last night. Used up 84MB in 45 minutes of light surfing and email checking. No, no streaming videos or photos. There's a lot of enraged talk in that other link about FreedomPop rounding up when metering data usages per session. We don't know what the session definition/durations are, but at least once every 15 minutes. You'll get hit whenever you're connected, even if you're idle.

There's a lot of talk about not being able to get your deposit back after one year because they have modified the contractual agreement that we've accepted when we first signed up. So the deposit will actually become a purchase. Also, if you let your device become idle for over 30 days, there's a service fee of $0.99 per month. You need to use at least 5MB per month or else the fee kicks in, so you can't just leave the device in a drawer and forget about it. There's also an Automated Top-Up feature that's defaulted in your billing account, at $10, that will hit your credit card when your remaining data reaches 100MB short of your maximum allotted. It'll be your option to turn that option off, but if you do and you hit your maximum, your account will be suspended and deactivated. And if any bills are not paid, your account will also be deactivate. There is a $19.99 fee to reactivate your account. We don't know whether we'll have to put down another deposit on another device when they switch service to Sprint sometime next year, but we believe that our original deposit will not be returned when the company no longer uses that device. Lots of other nuances that the company can nickel and dime you to death with. You'll need to be thinking about micromanaging your FreedomPop account and usages. Don't forget, this is a beta, so if we complaint enough, maybe things will get clearer and friendlier. Again, check out all the chattering on the other link. No, it'll be your homework to find that other link.

I think most people on this thread are subscribed to the other thread. Since that thread pointed everybody here.

Topup can be disabled. You can burn though 5mb limit in a few secs and this device unless you paid for a plan should be used as a backup to your backup.
