Oh, I assumed that Best Buy would charge me on the day the movie released (which the price would've lowered by then), I didn't think they would lock me in at MSRP. Also assumed that they had a some sort of "low price guarantee" on pre-orders like Amazon... I guess I'm wrong.

"Sold out nearly everywhere" in the same way that "limited edition", "one of a kind", "collector's edition", "only 99999 available" items sell out on HSN a hundred times a day. They gauged the market, decided how many they could hock, did it, and moved on to the next gimmick.

Nothing wrong with it, unless you've gone from buying something you value to thinking there's anything special, scarce, or intrinsically desirable about a cheap toy marketed with fake "call now!" urgency.
