I am not sure how these new ones are. Someone who has one, perhaps they can chime in. 5 TV's in the house with Verizon FiOS and we only pay $3.99/month to connect all 5 of them. Thanks to Ceton InfiniTV4 and CableCard.

The reason I emphasized "in my house" is exactly that: YMMV based on your wiring and circuit layout. |

Regarding Power Surges, has anyone seen this setup:
1. Point 1, DSL modem plugged into Zytel. 2. Point 2, Zytel adaptor plugged into wall 3. Point 2, Ethernet cable routed into Surge protector that accepts ethernet protection 4. Point 2, Ethernet cable from Surge protector into a router 5. Point 2, Ehternet cable from router to TV I wonder if this would add any protection and be feasible speed wise. Would there be more of a danger going through 'ethernet' than the plug that's also in the TV? |

You obviously have never used powerline products. I have used powerline products for almost 10 years now, in several homes. Work great, decent speed, and easy as pie to plug / play. They are designed to handle power surges / noise, and are very practical for a LAN. I

You don't provide any reasonable idea as to why anything I had stated is false. So as far as I'm concerned, you're talking out of your ass right now. I'm not threadcrapping at all, I'm just using my experience to formulate an idea as to how these work. I read through articles and saw quite a few things that supported this idea that I came up with. So before you go spouting off like that, how about some intelligent thought. |

Are you talking about coax in the TV? Or do you mean power plug? Last edited by Zephon13; 10-04-2012 at 10:58 AM.. |

If these devices are as fragile and not useful as you assert, we would see lots of other users and customers (who actually own and used the products) complaining about what a waste of money / time these devices are. There is no such feedback for the most part. In fact on Amazon doing a random search for Powerline products, people will find overwhelmingly positive reviews for these devices. Here is one random example: http://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Pow...=powerline Most people who have tried these devices, actually are pretty pleased with how they work. You are the only one who has consistently chimed in this thread with FUD about power surges, noise, etcs., about something which you have had NO personal experience with. So please, for God's sake, stop thread crapping already. Last edited by nutty professor; 10-04-2012 at 11:33 AM.. |
