Also another pretty big thing I wonder about is how these handle power surges and high frequency noise. Sure as hell not something I want to be passed into the NIC's of my devices. |

If you don't need all those RJ-45 ports this model has...save yourself $50

How do these get their internet signal? Do you have to plug one of them into your router? I have my router in my master closet, and want to be able to hardwire my bluray player in the front room and my computer in the office. Would one set work for me? Any response is reppreciated.

I've owned this set for about 6 months now, and although it doesn't get anywhere near the purported 500 Mbps, it is certainly better than the older kits. What this allows me to do is stream HD files to my basement media center through two floors, which was impossible to do wirelessly as the signal would drop packets and connection often enough to make streaming terrible. My house was built in '85, so running cat 6 would have taken a professional and cost thousands. |

OK one more question. My internet signal is currently wired to my bedroom outlet and I want to have it moved and installed to an outlet in the office. I could pay cox $80 to come and change it, but would it be just as effective to purchase this and plug it into my outlet in the bedroom and then hook the router up to the other one in the office, thus enabling to hardwire my PC and have the wireless more centrally located? I have no experience with this wireless stuff other than making a router work and opening up ports, etc., so I would be interested to hear input from someone who knows what they are talking about.

The master one will get the internet signal through an Ethernet cable connected to one of the router's LAN ports. Wait for a deal on a set of three (like this 200Mbps one). Otherwise, you'll have to buy two pairs as single adapters are rarely attractively priced. |
