Batting right and throwing left is more rare than the reverse.

I throw right and bat left. I write left, drink from a glass with my right, throw a punch with my right, golf lefty (which used to be fairly rare), shoot a hockey stick right, play tennis with my right (although I can switch pretty easily so no need for a backhand many times) etc. So I can and do use my right hand for many things. My brother is a pure lefty, can't do anything with his right hand.

Interestingly my parents were both right handed and out of four kids two are lefties. Those recessive genes came in to play or perhaps I was a born righty and somehow started writing with my left.
