I got $100 less on OTD price thru carwoo than the offer I got from a dealer via email, so I asked him to beat the price but he only agreed to match it, so anyway carwoo saved me $100 bucks and since I had a written offer thru carwoo it was easy to deal with other dealers to ask for a better price.
I would recommend to give it a shot since its free now... |

Dealers never gave me anything but MSRP through CarWoo ... was trying to buy a Subaru Impreza wagon.

I used the free service which was limited to a specific model ( one car) , I got three dealer quotes in such a large market of dealers in ATL. Wish there are many quotes.
The quotes that I got were quoted higher and not even close to the quotes offered from the dealership website itself. Hope this helps. |

Looked for a car in LA (one of the biggest car market) through carwoo's free service. Unfortunately my experience was not very good.
There are maybe 30 dealerships for the brand of cars within 100 miles radius but only 7 of them participant in carwoo. And out of those 7 only 1 responded with an offer, and it was for the wrong trim level. I think you are better off just follow the car buying guide here on SD and just email blast all the local dealerships for quote, and then go from there. That's what I did and I ended up with 2% below invoice price (not sticker price) on a model and trim level's that pretty rare in my area. |

Tried CarWoo in SF Bay area for a Hyundai Elantra. I went back and forth with 3 different dealers, but none of them would come close to the USAA car buying service guaranteed price I easily obtained with no hassle. The silly part was one of the CarWoo dealers I was haggling with was the best USAA car buying service (USAA uses TrueCar) price. The CarWoo guy at that dealership couldn't come within $600 of the exact car I ended up buying from the exact same dealer at the same time using the USAA car buying service.

I did their free service last time. They guaranteed three quotes. I got one. It didn't seem like a very good price, but I ended up going to the dealer nearest to my house. That dealer wasn't even on their list.

The website is kinda fun and amusing to use, but like others said, no way is a 3rd party buying service that charge the dealer (and user in some cases) going to get you as good of a price as negotiating directly with the dealer

I used it to find a Sienna 2012, and received a couple of good quotes. It does appears that the dealers are trying to out price one another. However, when I asked question they don't answer. I get the impression that they don't care.
At any rate, I would recommend this service. It's free for 1 car search and you actually save money. |

FYI this is the SD car buying guide I was referring to.
I use the template in the guide to write the email, and then I email to all the local dealerships. Then I just bargain with the dealerships that responded and try to get them to beat each other's quote. All communications are through email only until I've narrow down to the dealership I was getting the car from and I have an offer in writing. I went to the dealership to sign the paperwork and test drive the car to make sure there's no mechanical problems with it, and was out the door in about an hour. I also went about an hour before they close, so the finance guy wouldn't hassle me too much with the extended warranty/paint chip protection BS. |
