Hilton American Express Credit Card

I was looking at the Hilton American Express card. If you sign up you get 40,000 points. There are no annual fees and I pay my cards off every month so I don't worry about interest. Is this a normal reward for a loyalty credit card or is it better to hold off until a better deal comes along. The only other one I've done is the Southwest card where I got two free round trip tickets, so I'm not sure if roughly two free nights at a Hilton is good or not. Thanks in advance.

It's not bad but isn't all that great.

The Hyatt card gets you 2 free nights at ANY Hyatt property worldwide and the Platinum member benefits so it could be a better deal.

If you're going somewhere nice the Hilton may not be that great a deal because of the # of points they require. For example 40,000 doesn't get you a hotel room for even 1 night in Paris with Hilton yet it gets you 2 nights in one of the most expensive Hyatt's.

The SPG Amex is also another good card. Their Cash & Points option is great!

In addition to LivninSC's suggestions, I thought I'd add that the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card gives you 50,000 points after you spend $1,000 in 3 months and the Marriott Rewards® Credit Card gives you 30,000 points after you spend $1,000 in 3 months.

From experience I do not recommend the Hilton card. I signed up for the card last year with a 70k bonus that 70k is barely enough for 1 night in a 250.00 room. The points dont go along ways.

The card to get for hotel points is the SPG amex hands down.
