I needed 6 of these for an openfiler 2.99 NAS setup in an HP Proliant N40L... THANK YOU Prefect timing as I just got the money for this!!!

I need to replace the 2TB SAMSUNG HD203WI drives in my Netgear ReadyNAS Duo, but is this a good deal with only $9.99 off from their regular price? (Going rate at Newegg and other etailers seems to be $179.99)

Also, I have no experience with these WD "Red" drives, are they any good? Coincidentally, my 3-year old WD Black just crapped the bed last night after a power out.

That depends on the user, some would value the 3-yr wty from WD, again it's put out there as an alternative option to the 2TB WD Reds which have commanded a small premium, and it is a competitive price for 3TB Red

They're an authorized dealer. Their headquarters is in Canada, which is why people should be aware if they purchase from NCIX with their credit cards. Some credit cards will charge an international fee.
Their US branch (City of Industries, CA) just opened about 8-9 months ago, but all the payment is processed through hq.

While I've always been a WD fan, their green drives make me very nervous, and these Red drives seem like they're just "fixed" green/blue drives to work in a NAS, all while charging an artificial premium.

Seagate drives now have lousy warranties (N.B. I didn't check the above link), with some going down from 3 years to 1, and others from 5 years to 3. they're more than happy to sell you last year's real warranty for a premium price, but I won't buy their products unless I'm forced to by circumstances.

Both companies are keeping drive prices artificially high now that they've eliminated the competition. We're still a long way from the lower prices of old; they simply have no incentive to provide decent deals anymore.

Newegg is currently 229.00 very few places have this drive listed for 179, let alone IN STOCK!

1 year non 24/7 drives running at a VERY HOT 7200 RPM do no bare well for NAS application.

These are NAS Drives. I would not buy one of these for just storing stuff in my computer... sheesh

Awesome deal. I got 4 of these from NCIX a while back but paid a good bit more. They were packed VERY well and I had no dead drives. I'd highly recommend jumping on this deal!
