I have one of these. It is kind of nice, but the bag refills are kinda pricey (for a cheapo, er slickdealer, like me at least). They're just like a tube of plastic that you cut and tie on the ends. I actually ran out of bags and just put a regular kitchen-size garbage bag in there instead and it's just as, if not more, convenient. The big pros for this thing to me are that it locks, technically in two places, and has a holder for the scooper. All in all though, if it was my choice I would've just gotten a regular garbage can with a lid and a scooper with its own holder.

So instead of throwing away cat poo and pee, people store it?
To be fair, we had a diaper genie, but I hated the thing and never used it. Plus baby pee does not have the odoriferous emanations of cat piss. Last edited by phillylex; 10-03-2012 at 10:16 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

There is a $10 coupon available from http://www.coupons.com and on one of the threads someone said Target is clearancing the unit for $10.99. With the coupon, it would be a steal at a Target near you if they're clearancing it.

I use the Litter Locker (similar to the Litter Genie) and it works pretty well to keep in odors. For those contemplating a purchase you are basically buying a mini plastic trash-bin with a spring-loaded trap. There's a tube that dispenses bags. As others have commented the real money made by these companies is in the bags- the prices are plain ridiculous. To keep it slick, just stuff in your own garbage bags- I use Glad with Fabreeze scent to keep things odor-free. Plus you'll need durable bags (not the supermarket kind) if you don't want holes and a big mess.

I use one for our two cats. Bought it a couple months ago and are still on bags that came with it. Works great.
We used to use plastic grocery bags, but started using reusable bags (at the grocery store), and it seemed like recently the plastic grocery bags were so thin they all had holes in them. |

I just use an empty Tidy Cats litter container (35 lbs). Closes air tight and I've never had a problem with the smell. I looked at one of these Litter Genies at Petco when they had the 50% off fiasco but it didn't look air tight and seemed like odor would escape out of the side.
