They already charge ridiculously high prices for piss-poor speeds as compared to many other countries. I guarantee this was already figured into the monthly plan price years/decades ago, but is now just a way to increase their profits.
That being said, I think BrightHouse has one of the best customer service crews that I've ever dealt with (possibly even better than Newegg/Amazon). However, I still cut my cable (now use HD antenna) and phone service (now use Ooma) with them as these prices are just getting too out of hand for services that all come through the same line/cable.
If your not happy, show them with your wallet and find alternatives. I know internet is a tough one to get around, but the other services have many alternatives available.
I believe I've found the solution to obesity in America. Hemispherectomy....no one uses it anyway.
It's been my experience with TWC / RoadRunner that in order to get the best price, you need to call and threaten to cancel every 6-8 months. This way they put in into a promotional rate.
at the end of my promotion i called and the call ended up in tech support instead of billing, which i chose. upon telling the tech support person what i was calling for, they told me they were in tech support, BUT that 'sometimes they have access to the promotions.' then i said that i wanted to drop my speed down to the next lower tier, which would be at full price, what i was paying for the faster promo. thats when the tech says, 'i might be able to get the promo to renew.' so i said i would keep the faster speed if the promo would renew. sure enough the tech was able to renew the promo. the tech said and reiterated that the next time the promo most likely would not renew. something tells me they didnt want me to drop my speed. while im not a bandwidth hog, i am a medium user, around 12GB a month average a year.

hmm didnt get any notice about it. I still have their old modem that I never returned and didnt get charged for it. I wonder if I get a notice and I then activate using their old modem ( about 6 months old ) if they will notice
