I'm sorry but I'm not super tech savvy about router stuff...but I want to use something to pick up my wireless signal from my d-link router and plug my gaming console into it..would this have this capability? The NIC is fried and always thinks an ethernet cord is plugged in so I cannot use the console's wireless capabilty..

If so a powerline setup would work great. But if your NIC is fried and preventing the WiFi from working as well, you're basically...well, screwed. |

Yes it still works if I plug an ethernet cord into it, I am currently using a wireless router with an ethernet cord coming from it to my xbox, but I'm moving furniture around and changing internet providers, thus I want to use the xbox wirelessly. My secondary Wifi AP died so I needed to get something quick as the Wifi on the FIOS router I have does not provide an adequate signal for my entire house. Keep in mind that the AP that died on me was a corporate class product (HP ProCurve 520wl). I saw this deal and figured that I'd give it a shot. I ordered the router on Monday (Columbus Day) and received it yesterday (Thursday) using the free shipping. Wasn't happy that they didn't add any extra packing material in the box and the much smaller Zyxel box was free to bang around. I was very surprised of the size of this unit, it's incredibly small. To make a long story short, my first attempt to get this unit setup as a simple AP failed, but after a quick factory reset, I got it working on my network as a router. The signal range is very good (as good if not better than the 520wl).
Looks like this deal is dead, but it appears that there is an even cheaper ($17.99) router (that looks amazingly similar from a spec perspective, but has a different case) on Buy.com: http://www.buy.com/prod/levelone-...40919.html Hope this helps folks that may need a similar product. |
