The official drinking rules for tonight's meeting of the morons

One thing I hadn't noticed, mostly because I was just listening to it and not watching very much, was that it was very obvious that Romney would address Obama directly and look at him when he was talking, while Obama avoided looking at Romney when talking and instead addressed the moderator.

This was discussed as one of the biggest noticeable observations on both CNN and Fox News and gave the impression that Obama wasn't confident enough in his positions to talk directly to Romney. I'll have to watch it again in a replay to see how that appeared.

So far the biggest loser is the moderator. I'm usually not a big fan of strict rules, but if you are going to spell out rules for the debate and set up time limits then the moderator should stick to them and be more forceful on the time limits. Once he started off being lax with it he had no chance of pulling it back in control.

I heard someone on the radio today talking about the debate and referring to Obama always looking down as "constantly looking at his belt-buckle teleprompter".

Quick side note: I don't understand the whole teleprompter thing. With the teleprompter you sound like a president. Without it, you sound like an idiot. Which would you rather be criticized for?

The Teleprompter is fine to use for major and formal speeches...it's the almost exclusive use of it by President Obama that makes it humorous. It has nothing to do with how the person sounds, but how he looks - by not having to look down at notes (or God forbid, memorize a speech).

But when the alternative is a lot of foot-in-mouth moments, I just don't understand why he stopped.

President Obama stopped using the teleprompter? I wasn't aware. I thought it traveled everywhere with him.
