Four years of Obama is probably the best thing that can happen to the liberty movement and small-government people and actual conservatives (not the fake conservatives).
If Romney loses, the Republican Party will have to accept the fact that they need to change or THEY WILL NEVER WIN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AGAIN.
Was this the case for the DNC in '04?
The biggest thing would be if Obama wins and the GOP loses majority in the house and loses ground in the Senate, only then would it give a portrayal of something dire.
"The biggest problems that we're facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that's what I intend to reverse when I'm president of the United States." -- Sen. Barack Obama, March 31, 2008
Hyper-inflation leading to homelessness, starvation, inability to get medical attention or drugs, civil unrest, and quite possibly civil war.
Can you please provide some kind of timeline for this since it's what the Austrians have been ranting on about for a century or so?
It's unclear where anybody ever got the idea that a free market results in low prices when the entire point of capitalism is to maximize profit and low prices are less profitable. Therefore the natural proclivity should be to collude and fix prices at the highest sustainable point.
Oh, it's illegal to collude and fix prices and whatnot as deemed by the gubmint? Who are they to say how a free market should work when it's a matter of divinity per Adam Smith whose book nobody bothered to read?
Not anymore. We are done. We will choose evil no more. The country will get 4 more years of Obama, and we, as a divided nation will burn. A great deal of people will die And if the majority of the voting public insists on forcing themselves to be ignorant to the blatantly obvious attack on our country from within, then they get what they deserve.
The way I see it is the "who gives a shit boat" is getting to the point where it all it will take is one final load of complacent, brain dead lemmings to jump on board until it rocks hard in one direction to allow those smart enough to bail to get off, and then down into the abyss it goes.
Of course, Craptain Obottom will try to make room for as many as he can in the mean time.
Can you explain in material detail what make this prediction different from all the other ones in the last century? It's hard to take "sky falling" claims seriously after the first dozenths times or so.
Remember the Contract with America and the Gingrich Revolution, John Kasich the Budget Guru? The new John Kasich is Romney's VP pick.
There isnt a choice, we are facing fiscal armageddeon. We saw that Democrats arent interested in even passing a budget....let alone tightening belts. Tax and Spend, increase the Welfare State.
One more staunch conservative on the Supreme Court or possibly 2 will be rolling back jurisprudence since the New Deal for a quarter of the century.
Please support Romeny if you are in a close polling state. Im begging you. Dont flush America down the toilet.
It's already in the toilet. Voting for either mean pressing the lever. At this point, the toilet will flush no matter what. Why bother choosing? Right hand or left hand flushing the toilet will amount to the same result.
So you'd rather have Charles Manson as your kids baby sitter instead of Lindsay Lohan?
I completely disagree. Just as there are different levels of good there are also different levels of bad. I donate to charity, good but however am not Mother Theresa...
No, I would rather Gary Johnson babysit my kids.
I am not allowed attend a Jesse Jackson speech and scream "I'm sorry Mr. Jackson, your race card has been declined. Do you have another form of entitlement?" into a megaphone as soon as he finishes speaking.
I almost think I'd take another Hoover/ Roosevelt (same crap different name) over a Romney. Seriously when can we get a fiscal conservative as the Republican nominee? The American people had the choice - Ron Paul, but they turned him down (Santorum I believe outdid Paul's numbers.. shows how stupid the American voter is. Radical Christian theocracy is just as bad as Shariah law, but I digress).
But hey, you want Romney. Think about it, he's going to place the $800 BILLION Obama shifted from Medicare waste into the ACA, back to inefficient Medicare spending. Next, Romney's tax cut is just shifting stacks of paper around from the sound of it. 20% cross the board cut, but removing loopholes? LOL. We're not stupid Romney, any president who threatens (homeowner deduction, job shipping overseas deduction, ethanol scam subsidy ("farm subsidy")) might wind up missing. This will raise taxes on the middle class, lower them for upper class, and still lower revenues.
Show me a candidate who will outright break SS into a safety net for people who actually need the help (lifetime burger flippers, disabled whatever), and people who were fully capable of saving for retirement. Boom, 70% lower SS tax for anyone self-sufficient, same tax-rate for the lazy bureaucrats and socialists. Malinvestment in SS trust fund goes waay down. As it is, it's the equivalent of shoving trillions of dollars under a bed, yeah, GREAT investment.
Uh, anyways.. Bush did Medicare Part D. Last I checked, Bush's newly introduced spending is still why we're running huge deficits. If you only consider Obama's new expenditures, he's one of the most fiscally conservative presidents in recent time - not sure the numbers have been fully crunched on the ACA but that's the only point that could tip this assessment.
So anyway, Obama and Romney are Socialists. Romney's going to outspend Obama by leaps and bounds ("subsidy to spark job growth" is all you'll hear for the next 4 years.. that's code for stuffing all the lobbyists' pockets).
There is no Libertarian case for Romney. Just a Statist case. I'm not for either but Obama's more fiscally conservative than Bush, and I trust him more not to scam the American public by paper-shuffling the tax code to increase the effective rates of lower- and middle class people while lowering effective rates of upper-class, in particular. He won't change the Fed, he'll probably call for the exact same policy. Doesn't support ACA (moderately capitalist), but he supports Medicare (entirely socialist).
I'm sorry... what? What about Mitt is even close to fiscally conservative, let alone Libertarian? If someone can convince me on this one point, I may consider Romney. But I'd specifically like cuts to SS and Medicare, or at least an opt-out to start. I'd also make wealth redistribution by taxes illegal - only vital services that must be provided on a fed level can be - reduce fed taxes by an insane amount, replace them with higher state taxes. But I have a feeling Romney's democracy vision is the same as all the Statists.. he knows how to spend your money better! Sheep.
So that hyperinflation's coming real soon now(tm)? Austrian Nostradamus' been warning us about it every day for like 100 years now and I was really hoping it would occur within my lifetime.
You'll get the reaming you want soon enough. Bubble Ben is steering right for the iceberg this time. The simple logic is, take finite resources - food, housing, etc., stagnant productivity, stagnant wages, and rapidly increasing monetary supply. It's just not going to turn out good. 0% interest rate is somewhat unrelated but if you can't put together the pieces and see how big of a sham the Fed policy as a whole is, I can't help you.
