Is Apple through?

No, of course not. But the last 4S they released was mediocre and the new iPhone 5 is fraught with design problems. Phones are over 1/2 of Apples income. I am hearing more and more died-in-the-wool Apple worshipers backing way, way off their adoration of Apple. Apple has always been "The emperor that had no clothes" and it looks like the populace is starting to notice. And now with the economy in the dump and no sign of recovery consumers are really starting to realize that with Apple you pay twice as much or more for realistically the exact same thing with most of their products and with the iPhones, you get MUCH less.

If (when?) the iPhone 5 flops, that will put a damper on all future phones? Apple will irreversibly lose market share as people flock to more affordable and better phones. You will see an awakening of people duped into buying iPhones and pissed off as hell, which will reverberate throughout the Apple product line. I don't see Apple's current leadership making the necessary changes in time to avert major image damage.

So med-term (2-3 years) - short Apple?

Yeah that was the impression I was getting. I am not getting an iPhone 5 anytime soon, but I am waiting to update my iOS for a bit.

I was also thinking of going from my 3GS to a 4S to find a decent deal of someone wanting to get the latest phone, but I am not sure. iPhone 5 looks pretty good to me

Amongst the obvious OS issues, I had also read the camera has a design flaw with purple pictures due to the crystal used for the lens.

My point is people are getting tired of being duped. Funny thing is, many Apple users are anti-big business and Apple is as big as it gets.

I also call it a design flaw that Apple iStore is so lacking in apps compared to Google Playstore. People are fed up with that as well. And also I read that Apple will no longer support to Youtube app due to it being Google related. That will piss off even more people.

Not as many apps? Pretty sure the apps available on the App Store are greater than Androids offering and whatever the hell Windows and RIM use.

Screen = larger than the 4S.

4G/LTE is available on the 5 and works awesome

It's not purple pictures. It's a lens flare that has a more intense purple hue to it. It probably won't impact the vast majority of users.

Because you can't download several other free alternatives? Apple has not restricted YouTube from their platform, they just don't want to be dependent on a competitor in their same market. It makes sense.

Let's go with speed, battery life, size, the walled garden and quality control of apps (How many trojans have you seen in the App Store versus the Play Store?), excellent design concepts, apps that are far more attractive than their android counterparts, etc.

Your opinions != everyone's opinions.

After reading this thread, I am thoroughly convinced that Apple is driving itself into the ground. Not only am I selling all my Apple stock, but I am mortgaging my house to buy short stocks that Apple will tank.
