I do the same thing, but I roll the $$ directly into my bank account as soon as they post to SERVE. That's the only thing I use my SERVE account for.

It is basically as you outlined. Make sure you have a Staples Rewards account and provide the # (or phone #) at the register or checkout. The rewards generally expire in 2 months.

You should also consider recycling 10 empty ink cartridges each month for an additional $20. Once you spend >=$1000 in a given year, your Rewards status changes to Premier and you can then recycle 20 cartridges monthly and get free shipping on all staples.com purchases among other things.

Officemax just sent out this 20% off in-store supplies, ink and toner coupon. Attached for your benefit and usage.

It clearly says not good on gift cards, but it looks like it can be used for a number of these staples deals if your local store takes competitors coupons.

I agree wholeheartedly with this approach, but as you say, one still needs to teach them to fish. And that can take the form of providing basic information that they can build upon.
