Here is the thing about that sweetener, it is found in so many modern food products and so common that any serious side effects would have likely been detected by now. There are always experts you can dig up on any ingredient claiming negative problems, even aspirin. The hysteria surrounding artificial sweeteners is as much about the marketing claims of natural food companies as anything else.
My post isn't hysterical, nor are the experts quoted.
The real reason to avoid it, if you have no self control, is that there is good evidence that artificial sweeteners upset the delicate feedback cycle of our endocrine system, tricking the brain's control of our metabolism. It's probably wise to cut them out if someone is trying to cut down for a contest prep or stripping off the final few digits of body fat.
I don't think self control has much to do with what I was talking about, and what the experts were talking about.
I agree, I wasn't contesting that.
Actually I already did criticize another poster, and I didn't even need your fancy internet points to do it. Crazy, I know.
Your post is garbage. I think you should give before you take and also read before you criticize as you were blown up later in the thread by Superstition's post.
Game. Set. Match.
So much for game set and match, you can go back to lurking now, you're much better at that than trolling.
Sweetened with a high-intensity artificial sweetener of questionable healthfulness:
I would stick with unsweetened[cspinet.org] protein, personally. It's not like a person can't make a smoothie with it and real fruit if it's absolutely necessary to have sweetness. In comparison with all the effort it takes to build muscle, drinking an unsweetened shake seems like a paltry effort.
Totally agree, this is exactly why this protein powder tastes nasty.
