I am getting my pieces together for my custom desktop and I still need to get a video card. The one I was going to get was $200 after rebate but has gone up to $260 and that's a bit out of my price range.
My question is I am looking for the best video card $220 or under (rebates are fine). I may be looking to do SLI/Crossfire in the future but as of right now I'm just looking to get a single card at that price. The computer will be used to play games like BF3, SC2, and maybe some other newer games that are coming out in the near future.
GTX is best for BF3 and depending on the motherboard, if you want the latest then you'd probably want 3.0 pci-e video card to go with the motherboard. Which would mean youd need a GTX 6XX series. I suggest a 660Ti
Decent performance for the price, even at higher resolutions. Introduces Kepler technologies to the mainstream market.
Cons Not decisively faster than similarly priced AMD cards in many tests. Power usage higher than that of competitors.
If you've been waiting a couple of years to upgrade your $200 video card, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 is an attractive choice that nonetheless faces strong competition from similarly priced AMD products.
