For $85 shipped these are better than these energy. I think they are better than the sp-fs51.

I can't believe these made the FP.
Agree, BS41 is way better than this EF500

The same Jamo garbage that has been $130 for 5 speakers at Frys. Terrible speakers, the worst I've ever heard. Stay away, you've been warned.
I would say the 2 fronts are decent for the price. I am using them as surrounds now

the center and sat are useless

Should I get polk monito30's or these? I understand one is floorstanding and one is bookshelf, but as far as sound quality, which is better? I will be getting a separate sub either way. I was also looking at the Energy CF-30's and Polk Monitor50's. How do these compare(if I decide to spend the extra money). Right now a pair of Energy CF-30's will be $220+tax and Polk will be around $160+tax. Which is better and is the price difference worth it for the Energy CF-30(if it is better)

I was just going to ask about the Pioneer floor standings...:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6882117403

$120 for the pair w/ coupon...just $20 over these. What do you think about the price?

Anyone else have experience with these?

Anybody care to comment about the horrible efficiency ratings the pioneer speakers have?
Do they have decent volume levels?
I'm listening to a pair of the FS51's right now, driven by a $25 LePai amp, and I'm literally in disbelief I got this setup for $145 total. With that little 20W amp I can get them very loud. I've never heard these Energy speakers, but I can highly recommend the Pioneers.

These Pioneer floorstanders are on sale for a mere $20 more:

Thoughts on whether they'd be a better choice? I'm thinking of replacing the fronts of my Take 5 set.

P.S. How bad is it gonna be to have a mismatched center from the Take set? I have Audyssey MultEQ but I dunno that it can really compensate.

I was debating the same thing... after some research, I'm thinking of going with the Pioneers. Only downfall from the pioneers I have heard is the size.. however, these ones are smaller than the energy floor standings.

I have the Energy RC-70s and love them. Can't exactly comment on these, but I have nothing to complain about in terms of Energy build quality or performance.
These are nowhere close to the RC-70's! In fact they aren't even Energy speakers. These EF-500's are rebadged Jamo's. Audiovox bought the Klipsch Group back in Jan 2011, which includes Energy, Jamo, Mirage, and Athena. Audiovox will proceed to rebadge and mix and match everything until the consumer doesn't really know what they are buying and these once pround speaker brands will be ruined. Audiovox...unbelievable. That's like K-Mart quality!

I wonder if these are worth it if I buy 2 sets for a 4.0 setup for PC gaming. Already have a spare receiver...

Where did you sell your set...ebay or craigslist? I have a Z5500 packed away not being used that is in great condition, but it would be such a pain to ship the heavy sub if selling on ebay. I do not have the original box. I may post on craigs and see if I get any bites. What price would you recommend I try and sell them for?
Sold on Amazon, I got $279 plus shipping, but Amazon doesn't allow you to fix your own shipping cost, so I took a hit on that. As long as they're boxed, shipping isn't hard-- just took it to the post office and mailed it. Easy. Sold fairly quickly, too. I really enjoyed the z5500 set while I owned them, but in my new place I have room for a full-sized setup.

Audyssey can't compensate for the timbre of the speakers.

It will probably work OK, but sooner or later you'll wish you had the matching center.

Jamo is actually a well-regarded brand of speakers in Denmark. They're just unknown here in the States. They definitely aren't a trash speaker company.

I've been using these same Energy (i.e., Jamo) speakers, along with matching center speaker, for the past year, and they sound really fantastic. Granted, I'm more of a headphone audiophile, and don't have that much experience listening to speakers, but these sound crystal clear and super-detailed to my ears. I feel like I am hearing all the little details and ambients in the movies and games that I'm playing. Not shrill or piercing, just clear. I find that removing the front grill enhances the clarity more so.

The bass isn't particularly strong, but any good home theater setup eventually needs a separate subwoofer anyway.

i wholeheartedly agree with this post. theses are re-badged entry level JAMO's. (higher end Jamo's have good stuff.) benefit of having full size speakers vs. satellites is to have a fuller sound. (my situation was to upgrade from satellites as i posted previously) sacrificing space for a better/fuller sound. These do not have a full sound and harder to drive if you have a cheap amp. Even if i wasn't looking to upgrade from sats, i wouldn't buy these again. waste of space and unneeded stress on your amp. (i'm not saying they will burn out your amp, just not worth driving your amp more with these speakers)

I ended up upgrading my energy take classics to a pair of RC-50 towers and a RC-LCR center channel somebody was selling on craigslist for 400 for all three. And sold the take classics sats i had for 150. (crazy upgrade for 250)

i would use the 100 bucks somewhere else. or add a few more bucks and get something better if you already have a separate amp. i know i lot of people like these as several people posted but i guess i was looking for something better than energy take classics in comparison.
