Electrical Engineers, will this blow something or work?
Have a device that was engineered to control one motor. The device allowed the motor to run awhile after being told to turn off (post run cycle).
It’s been reconfigured to have multiple motors running independently of each other. Since that modification, the motors are no longer controlled by the device. There’s a multiple relay panel which receives power, and on/off signals for each motor from another source.
Previously, when the single motor was controlled by the device, there was an adjustment allowing the motors to run awhile longer than called for. With the relay panel controlling multiple motors, that option is no longer available. The black wire the device has to control the motor it was designed to run has been capped.
I’d like one motor to have the post run option the device allows. To do that, can I wire a two pole 120 volt relay for which will be turned on by the aftermarket relay panel, and held on by the now capped power from the device (which controls the post run cycle) after the aftermarket relay panel shuts power off. Will this do it:
Coil white from relay panel box, and also white to motor
Coil black from relay panel box
Com to coil black
NC black wire controlling motor from device (also the post run cycle wire)
Com to coil black
NO black wire to motor
Pole 1 receives power from the device and provides power to the relay, holding it on and providing power to the motor until the device tells it to shut off.
Pole 2 receives power from the aftermarket relay box and holds relay on until wire controlling post run cycle from the device shuts it off.

sounds like corporate (read: remote) controlled AC unit with a delay off timer so that the motor runs for a few minutes after the T-stat sends signal to turn the unit off. this can increase the efficiency of the unit as the coils tend to stay cold for a while after the compressor turns off.
