This a great offer for anybody who knows how to repair Onkyo receivers and has some spare HDMI ports on hand.

Hate to say I agree about Onkyo lately.
I had a 1.5 year old receiver that fried. I had to spend three weeks tracking down someone to answer my repair request. Then I had to spend $65 to send the unit in for repair as they wont pay to ship it even though it was still under warranty. This is of course a $1000 receiver were talking about. So I get it sent off and the repair center tells me it will be three months to get the parts as they are on back order. So Day After Day I fought with Onkyo to get the unit fixed or replaced. It wasnt unit I lambasted then on their forum until they agreed to do something.

This is not a knock on you OP. Your post is appreciated, it is just Onkyo Quality that is the issue.

I'm in the market for a new receiver, and was looking for one around the price range of $300-$350, but am willing to go as high as $400 if it is for a great receiver. I was previously looking at the Onkyo Tx-NR616, but have noticed the recent quality drops posted in reviews. What receivers would you guys recommend for a 7.1, 3-D compatible system in that price range?

So do you guys think i should cancel the order and order a refurb denon? im looking to spend no more then $350 on a receiver.

If onkyo is that bad now. What do you guys suggest ?

There's just too many bad experiences documented with the 2012 Onkyo's (616's, 515's, 414's). And it's exposed how poor their support organization appears to be.

I was thinking about the 616 too, but then keep reminding myself to stay away from it.

As for the refurb Denon, are you looking at the refurbished AVR-1913 from AccessoriesforLess for $350? Since it comes with a one year warrranty, I've been serioulsly considering it. Or, hoping Fry's puts it on sale again soon, at $299 (new), like they did over Labor Day weekend.

Get Yamaha 673 under 400$ from Electronicsexpo. Search mine posts to get it for good price.

Yes it was the 1913. Was the frys deal an instore only or did they ship it for that price also. I have no frys near me so it wouldnt do me any good if it was instore only.

I've had no issues with this receiver. Works perfectly for me.

Thanks. i went ahead and ordered the denon 2112ci for $30 more. I wanted the audyssey xt which i heard was a night and day diff from the 2eq audyssey.
