That's the problem with people nowadays. They think "Oh this guy/gal cares about me. They're gonna take care of me. I'm gonna get my Obama phone." People need to learn to take care of themselves.

Apparently you don't know the meaning of take care of yourself and not let someone else take care of you. This concept does not exclude external help but it does include relying on your skills, knowledge and courage rather than relying on someone else to take care of you. I'm somewhat young and i got a letter from the gov't essentially guaranteeing me 75% of my expected SS benefits when I retire. I don't expect to see a dime of this money, so I will rely on myself to provide for my own future. If i get some money, great! I can build a shuffle board court in my backyard. I'm certainly not going to rely on the government to take care of me.
