Thanks I was waiting for this to come down! A friend has the belkin kit and its awesome. I need my outlet though lol, and this is perfect!

Pretty good price on these. I already have them and was hesitant to try and add other types to my network, so was glad to see the price drop so I could grab a couple more.

I've used these in the past and, while they do work pretty well, don't expect anywhere near 200 mbps throughput. I contacted their tech support and was told the throughput depends on a number of factors, such as the quality of the home wiring, etc. Their disclaimer reads: "*The theoretical maximum data transfer rate is 200 Mbps. The actual data transfer rate may vary depending on the quality of electrical installation." As an experiment, I took 2 brand new outlets, connected them with a 1 foot piece of 14-2 romex, plugged in the adapters and then connected 1 of them to my network. With this configuration (1' of wire with no electric current) I was getting about 25 - 30 mbps. Far less than the 200 they advertise. Still usable but not much of an improvement over a wireless connection.

Also, the 200 speed is 100 one way + 100 back.

It might be a little apples to oranges, but for a vague reference, I have a netgear '200' set up in my house (built in '97) & from one side of the house to the other I get between 15 & 30 mbps.

200mbps is not worth it.

a 500mbps is much faster and was this price not too long ago

Will these two act as extension of the first one?
I bought this last time, and the two boxes look identical, only that one is connected to the internet, so if i get these, will the both be extenders?

i think frys had 500mbps units for $25 with free shipping. this was a few weeks ago but i dont think its worth getting 200 from what ive read.

The units with the outlet on them cost more $$$$.

500s also might not be any faster depending on your layout. They seem to gradually match the speed of the 200 units the farther you have them apart according to tests on some networking site whose name escapes me right now.

I got the 200 mbps Zyxel at Amazon for $40. They work great for streaming 1080p MKV's at my house where wireless would fail.

These are nice in that they have a power outlet extender so you don't lose a power adapter.

My friend got the $50 Actiontec 500mbps and can't see a difference in speed. Both the 200 and 500s were around 35mbps for downloading. We used LAN speed test to test the units.

The 500's are still at bestbuy.
