If you have on board video through your processor (e.g. Intel HD 4000) do these work *with* it to help the video performance, or does video performance only use one or the other?

e.g. is there any point to getting one of these low end graphics cards when you already have on board video on your processor that's nearly as good as this card would be?

I think this would be much better than any CPU on-board video. It works in place of on-chip video, not with it (unless you're talking multiple displays).

But I needed this for the 2560x1440 monitor I have, no CPU on-board video can drive that resolution via dual-DVI output.

I just meant if it helps to take some of the load off the cpu when rendering graphics (not duel display).

is this good for htpc with WMC and a ceton tuner ?

Lest any one thinks this could be a good graphics card for games the 64bit memory kills it along with the slow memory. Good for video watching or anything else that isnt gonig to tax the video card much.

For folks with existing Ivy Bridge graphics, I say don't buy. You are just adding to the electrical , thermal and acoustic load of your PC for no benefit. I would probably think that way even for Sandy bridge integrated graphics. This would make a good starter card for people with older chipsets . Good for HTPC use. And at the same price, the 6450 is the a better card. The 6450 is even better than the gt 610 which is similar to the GT 520 but newer..

Just wondering, would this be an okay upgrade for the cost from an Asus EAH5450? Or should I just hold off and do a bigger upgrade later.

You know, I am going to have to thumbs down this card due to the fact that the 6450 is a little better, but more importantly my experience with Zotac and their rebates is that they take forever AND I have always had to make multiple phone calls just to get it back. Not worth it for me.

Is this better than Geforce GT 430... Is it worth the upgrade? what other card will you recommend.thx
