I'm thinking if heat were a problem this would have come up somewhere in ratings or here... not sure if anyone had left it on high for the length of the life of the battery, but I would be curious to see if that is a problem. Not sure if I'll be brave enough to burn my own out like that tho.

Precisely... last time I posted a similar thought in a Fenix deal i got reamed by a couple of "flashlight-philes." Even if a couple crapped out out of 20, that would still be acceptable for the price and performance. Bottom line, if I were camping anywhere, I would much rather have 4-5 of these than one $80 light where if you dropped it down a hill, hole, breaks, lost, u r out of luck. You can break/lose 2-3 of these and still have a couple more left to spread around with your comrades. They are small enough, no brainer. And yes I think it was agreed that the 1200 equates to an avg of 600 lumens real life performance, which ya, is plenty for most.

Don't believe me? Try it yourself. Same with any other colored LEDs.

Colored filters don't work with LEDs.

Amber LED's shine right through red filters.

with a little patience you can snag similar flashlights on ebay for $7 shipped....I did 3 weeks ago.. I have a few, they're impressive, but I notice they fail with in a year.......

I recommend trying a 18650 ~ $3 shipped. A charger is also ~$3....... I was able to piece together an ultrafire light, 18650 + charger, + a holster for $2 shipped. Everything cost me about $15.. The cheap 18650 are generally considered garbage and dangerous, but they do work. These lights have poor fit and finish etc, but for their price they're fun to try.

I have lights ranging from $5 - $150......the ultrafire $15 combo I mentioned compares to lights costing $50 in brightness and throw, but I don't expect much reliability from it. Its just a stocking stuffer for some one ;-)

the $6 siptik are impressive, but quickly start to fade and flake out with in a year..

A good / safe 18650 will cost atleast $10- $15...Redilast and AW are good reliable brands..

Flashlights are like people. Some are brighter than others. But even a not so bright friend that is your friend is better than someone very bright who is.... well you get the gist (if you are among the bright ones)

Many people here are smarter than you think. I appreciated his information and repped him for it.

I don't understand why people dont mention the flash light deal at Costco . You get 3 flash light rated at 200 lumens each for 20. The lumen output seem to be real as they are brighter then these 1200 overrated lumens Chinese knock off lights. Anyway , I compared and tested myself.

How is it wrong?

I put white LED's as a brake light in my 2012 Camry and through the factory red lens the white LED's shined right through.

I put amber LED's in the turn signals and the amber color shined right through the red lens.

Also, the Land Rover Range Rover come with amber lenses and red LED's as brake lights from the factory.
