Bought from bestbuy month ago and working extremely well. got everything I need : fax, copier, wireless printer, scanner. Easy to refill or if prefer aftermarket ink, those are cheap as well.

And mine works just well after the initial setup on one computer over USB. It's been about a year. Any Windows 7 PC picks it up automatically; Windows XP machines are the ones that need the same USB-type installation on every one of them as the initial one that really seems to be critical for the printer itself.

I'm in. Cannon says it comes with a XL black and standard size color ink, and the Amazon price for both of those is more than the cost of this printer.

Besides...I currently have a Cannon Pixma and it's time for ink. :-)

The Canon site shows this comes with regular cartridges rather than starter cartridges. If that's true, this printer is $10 cheaper than the cartridges alone. Good times.

Yeah, u must be right. I had it for 2 years and after numerous calls with canon and my ISP (who provided our wireless router), we decided to ditch it. But I guess you know better than all the others complaining about the same problem.

People still pay for packaged ink? Most people I know from work use refills on ebay, $10 for 10 refills.

I, actually, simply shared my experience. Not "knowing better than the others" but, IMO, definitely giving more information to those who'd want to resolve an issue. That's all.

It comes with the standard cartridges, not the XL size. I have the MP499 box right next to me.

not all refills will work. some printer models just dont play well with refills. i doubt this canon printer will take refills or after market ink very well. i had bad experience with canon printers on after market inks. either the printers can't recognize or have hard times to recognize those inks consistently, or bad print quality, or printheads get stuck or damage. judging from good reviews on the brother after market inks, i'll go with it.

the review for this ink is HORRIBLE.

Might as well buy the Canon PIXMA MG2120 with a free 4GB flash drive for the same price when you pick it up in store at walmart. Both seems like the kind of printer you buy and dispose of once the ink is dry. The ink cost as much as the printer itself.
