l called and the same story again...same old BS. Then...how much did you pay. Those morons can only tell if the price of phone is x and if x is less than what they think, it is under contract. Now I have a case number and they will call in 3 days. I am really pissed with their no commitment prices. It would be better if I would have bought from Ebay.

Just got a past due notice from AT&T for $9 for my no contract iphone that never had service.

Help! I was billed 125+ and I called CS and she told me I had to pay 37 dollars for activation since she said I ordered on the 6th and didn't cancelled until the 10th. So I suppose to cancel within 3 days of ordering the phone? The phone wasn't shipped until the 8th and I didn't receive the phone until the 10th. What should I do?

Yes, unfortunately, these phones were pre-activated so you really did only have 3-days from order date.
I did ask a CSR at time of order whether you had 3-days after order date or receiving date, and he said receiving. You could argue a CSR told you the same.

However, when I called to cancel 2-days after ordering before I even received it, the CSR who cancelled my service did tell me that phone was activated on the day I ordered.

After 2 hours on the phone I finally found a CSR nice enough to refund the payment. I bought the iphone5 refurb from ATT but decided to cancel it. Don't wanna go through all this trouble again...

I got $89 past due bill which was already sent to collections agency! Beautiful.. stuck on ATT CSR explaining the whole thing.. they keep saying u didn't return the phone.. blah blah!!


Update: Now they say I have to pay for activation fee for sure? How did you guys get out of it?

I just told them I cancelled within the 3-days and that the online CSR when I was placing an order said I wouldn't have to pay activation and the one who cancelled my account also said the same.

I also received 3 robo calls and the email reminder to sign up. I just checked my bill and have $6 past due even though I canceled 2 days after ordering. When I canceled, the rep said I wouldn't get charged because the phone hadn't been activated yet.
