Tempting deal for a mid-range mini with some pretty decent features.
Possible drawbacks: * BD player is only a player; can't write to Blu-Ray. * I wonder if it comes with "un-crippled" Blu-ray playback software? Many people who buy BD drives for PCs report that you need to buy extra software to play BR movies on the PC. Even systems that come bundled like this may only give you "stereo" audio and may you pay extra for the "full package" that includes 7.1 audio, etc. * Radeon 7450 is supposed to support DisplayPort but I don't think this model has that. * No USB3.0 ports and no eSATA port. That means that options for a high-speed external storage are limited to slower USB2.0 drives. Despite all this, I still think it's a decent system. Deciding whether it's worth it to order for in-store pickup.

Hand to find much info on the HD 7450 GPU. Clearly a low-end OEM part, so I am pretty sure gaming performance would be extremely limited. I imagine you could replace it with a low-profile HD 6570/6670 card for pretty cheap. I think a nice HD 7750 would hit the sweet spot for performance, but PSU power would likely be insufficient:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6814202002 It does have a sad little 275 Watt PSU, so I would not push it to hard unless you planned on doing a PSU upgrade as well. Aside from that, this looks like a pretty sweet HTPC setup with the wireless keyboard/mouse and media remote. If only there a Fry's in my neck of the woods, I would give this some serious consideration. |

This one is HP and others are Lenovo, I know they use same components, but, is one better build than other? How often does Staple have the $100 off deal? I can wait since I don't care for the blue ray, TV tuner |
