Dang it, you are right. I remember now I assumed that they did from the few reviews where they blew up when plugged into known defective PSes (the $20 one I bought anyway), so I assumed that was due to the tester applying load. Well, I sure as heck ain't going back to the paper clip and vlotmeter method (which is a PITA and ALSO doesn't apply load...) so I guess that means it is time to start shopping for a REAL PS tester.

Thanks for sorting me out on that, cos you are right, I was only testing half of the equation on power supplies (bad voltages on any rails), and that actually has helped me before (with cheaper PSes I purchased for other client budget builds, where they were out of spec and "could" have caused instabilities, or plain old DOA), it certainly ain't enough, repped!

EDIT: Looks like I am screwed, I found mention of ONE PSU tester that provides dynamic load, the DBS-2100 load tester, pic attached. Looks REALLY expensive, AND I cannot find any place that sells it to find out one way or the other :/ (still looking thoug, SOMEONE must sell these things!). Looks cheaper to build a dang computer (bench PC, not in case, to make swapping PSU's easierish) and put dynamic load on it via different pieces of software running at different times (games running benchmark loops, Prime, Intel burn test, etc., would have to think about the battery of tests), and use extentions, etc. to loop in the voltage only tester between the PSU and where it plugs into the component(s) it powers so I can read the voltages coming right out of the PS :/. Either that or go nuts and build my own, no thanks, no time for that! I haven't touched a bread board since my EE at college days .
