Buying AMEX Gift Card for Southwest Points, is it as cash advance?

All gift cards I have purchase in the past did count..... Never really thought about that....... Free flights galore! Some visa gift cards also give you an option to cash out via check being mailed to you also..... I think you are on to something here..... Reps

Note... After researching ..using the rr card you earn Earn 1,500 Tier Qualifying Points toward Status for every $10,000 you spend on the card (maximum of 15,000 Tier Qualifying Points annually).

So you would have to purchase 100k just to get 15000 qualifying points..... Although you would still ave 100k normal points...... I have a 20k limit on mine so the cash out option over a year may not be a bad idea... Although I'm sure the refund would take longer that a month or two so if I didn't pay the card off I would pay interest and lose money in the end......

Additionally if I got audited by the IRS, that my throw up some red flags.....

Not sure if there is technically anything illegal about that......receiving a 20k check and depositing it would look like 20k income in your bank account.....

I guess as long as you kept all documentation of every transaction, you should be covered in case of an audit....
