Once before, I pulled a price tag found at Target for an electronic item and showed it at WM. The store manager told me this :"I can go to the back of the store and print whatever item with whatever price you want it to be. With computer and laser printer nowadays, ppl have no trouble printing counterfeit money so I will need a real local printed ad to consider any PM."

Depending on the walmart manager, walmart will PM from a receipt. You no longer need the ad at walmart, most walmart managers I have dealt with will PM if the price can be verified (usually by calling, internet listing, or receipt from competitor) and you do not need an ad.

More like depending on where you live. I've tried at least 4 to 6 stores where I live (a big major metro, top 5 in the US) and the store managers all told me "sorry bud. Gotta have a printed local ad before they would even consider wasting time PM. That is calling the other store with the printed ad and verifying if the item is in stock, blah blah"

I guess living a big city means there're lots of frauds so they have to be stricter.

Edit to add: I've noticed lately at WM there are lots of items where WM has asked the manufacturers to make specific/odd size just for WM (with a completely different UPC). They figure by doing so, they'll have a way outta PM (claiming their products are not the exact alike sold elsewhere). Or ppl can't just buy elsewhere for cheaper and bring the items to WM for returning w/o ID and get gift cards.

This is nothing new. Been going on for years at all stores. Computer manufactuers do it with laptops, etc. The model # is usually 1 or 2 digits different, thus preventing PM'ing.

Office Depot is a good example of this.

did you talk to THE store manager, a store co-manager, a manager, a customer service manager, or a supervisor?

I talked to CSR managers. I never see any store manager, ever. They're too big to be on the store's floor.

climb the ladder till you get to THE store manager of a co-manager (silver bordered name tag). might take time, co-managers tend to honor walmart policy where as CSR tend to do what they are told (and not honor policy). I PM walmart all the time, no ad, most of the time they do not check or give up when they can not find the ad.

Usually store closings are handled by a liquidation company - so they aren't running ads anymore and their prices aren't associated with other OD stores, including clearances.

Keep in mind that the traffic receiver is built into the car adapter. If you don't use that feature then it won't matter of course.
