Help me in Reducing Spending on Internet & Phone

Call up COX, tell them you're thinking about dropping them because of the price. There's a good chance you can get them to reduce the price.

If not, look at other options. Comcast and Optimum constantly run promos for internet service for about $30/month for the first year. After that, Comcast goes up to around $60 (although you can upgrade your service with another promo for $40/month for a faster speed, just for the next year), Optimum goes up to $45 after a year.

As for mobile, do you have a data plan, or just talk/text? How many minutes/texts do you think you'll need?

How much calling do you do overseas? It seems like the vontage bill is quite high at the rates most of the VOIP providers charge.

Get an OOMA VOIP instead of vonage. Pay for the older model ooma about $150 and then there is no monthly fee. The new ooma has a monthly fee, although its a lot less than $40, under $10 I believe.

We've had our OOMA running for two years now. Hardly ever use it as we both have unlimited mobile, but it doesn't cost us anything and works every time we need it.

ATT DSL Direct internet 6mb is like 19.95 for the first year and then just tell them you want to cancel and you'll keep the rate longer after that.

How about using google voice for international calling?

I use Clear for internet. $35/month no contract and I can take it with me. I use it at home and it's a pretty solid connection (better than ATT DSL)

Called up Cox .. But no gain.. Trying to switch over to centruylink

But the issue is my ******* apartment already has a mandatory cable connection with COX so couldnt do it

Could go with Freedompop if you don't use much internet (500mb free per month) and assuming you're in a supported area.

As for phone, consider a different VOIP / SIP provider. Anveo.com is very cheap (pay for usage, $40 would get you a LOT of usage). Uses either a software phone (like 3CX is free) or a VOIP phone / DTA that is programmable. Should lower the phone costs considerably and provide very good service.

As for cell phone, no idea, that's pretty low already..really depends on usage if pay-as-you-go is worthwhile or not.

I have cox too.. They do have a slower 2mb internet for like 30 or 40 a month.

As for the vonage just get rid of it unless you care about having a house phone.

If you dont' use data straight talk is 5 dollars cheaper for 1000 min and 1000txt... Id get skype or something to replace vonage should be about half as much I would assume. Skype to skype calls are free.
