I hate when the keys have a huge gap between them.
People say that a lot about chiclet keys, but if you look at your keyboard right now you will realize that your keys are not cubic in shape. They have a large beveled edge. The actual key surface size is the same, but instead of filling the gaps with beveled edges, they go straight down. The main difference is chiclet keyboards usually have less key travel. So if you are used to banging on a keyboard with huge travel your hands will tire out quickly, as you have to get used to the lighter touch.

Bought one of these for my desktop mainly because I want some extra desk space and I have an Anywhere mouse so I can use the unifying receiver without using an extra USB port.

This is a great HTPC keyboard. Compact and has great range (I can use it from all the way across my house through several walls and it still works fine, not that it's terribly useful since I can't see the tv Smilie). I shut it off when I'm not using it and the batteries are still going strong over a year after I got it.

I wouldn't want to use it as a main keyboard where I would be doing a lot of typing, but then I'm a bit of a keyboard snob so it might be fine for most people.

Still shows as available in-store for me, so might be worth checking if you missed it online. As I recall, these were a bit tricky to find in-store because they were on a display away from the keyboards (that was a previous deal though, so YMMV). Just FYI for anyone still interested.

the mk400 is a much better keyboard for htpc use. I have one for mine and the trackpad is makes it much more usable. The left corner mouse button is a very nice addition. For those looking to get an htpc keyboard I would recommend something with a trackball or mouse built in, over this keyboard.

I guess it depends on your setup. I essentially never need a mouse, so it would just be a waste of space for me. On the rare occasions when I do need a mouse I just VNC from my desktop, which is better than trying to use a trackpad from 20 feet away anyway.

That said, you're absolutely right that it's something people should consider.

Seems only out of stock for the glossy black... though the other colors are pretty hideous-looking.

Well since the keyboards were out of stock earlier I went to a local Staples store and they had 8 in stock. I picked two up (one for my Dad and I), I love this keyboard. It makes a great addition to the keyboard I already have because I can use this on the go. It's light and compact, but not too compact. I can type easily on the keyboard as well and it's the perfect size. The black gloss keyboard is good looking, I would have to say it's definitely worth the $15.00.

I found a couple of these at my local Staples hidden and not showing in their inventory. To be honest I'm not impressed with the feel of the keys, but I guess that's what you get for $15. I will probably return it for a better model though. Just my $.02 anyway.
