I have the MG5220 and have been using third party inks with no problems. The print quality is worse than OEM for color prints but it's the same for printing black and white documents. If you're looking to buy this printer and use OEM cartridges, it would be a horrible purchase.

OK I'm in for one.
That being said I already own the MG6120 which I snagged Dec 31st 2011 at Staples for $75 Clearance, and is an awesome printer, very quiet fast amazing Black text. Don't know why people say "yeah but no Fax machine" Really, go spend $19.99 and buy a Fax machine, the Paper and ink last forever, and You are not wasting Super Expensive Printer in on what are usually Junk faxes. So no when this is delivered I am placing it in the closet. So no more printer temptations. |

great price for printer, used 5320 for over 1 year with ink from ebay no problems with pritner. over 10k pictures printed and 10k documents b&w and color, with all the money saved on ink (10 bucks per cart compared to oem) the printer has more than paid for itself.
same ink except mine doesn't use grey but canon is really good printer for using non-oem ink if you need to print photos. |

I'm considering buying this printer, but I don't know anything about third party inks vendors that work for this model. How do you figure out all the ones that work for this? Is there a link or a website with a table or something? |

I bit. Just this weekend my wife and I were researching how to be able to print from our iPhones, iPad, and Nexus 7. This will do them all. My father has a similar Canon from a year ago and the photo printing is amazing. I'll keep my existing Brother to print cheap with generic ink but would likely stay with original Canon ink for this. The photos come out too nice.

Has anyone used ink-refill kits for this model? I previously had a canon with the clear ink tanks and it worked excellent for the refilling. I must have spent 80 in ink, and it lasted for well over 3 years before the printer head malfunctioned. I don't necessarily need a kit, just a source for good quality inks.

Just set one of the 6220s up for a clientas well and ordered two sets of Meritline Ink for het at the same time. These are nice printers and using third party ink are low cost to operate. "He Who Controls The Spice... Controls The Universe!" CAUTION! Noobie crossing zone! ![]() |
