I bought this washer about two months ago for $100 more, but it did come with free shipping as it does now.
Let me dispel some of the myths that are being spread on this forum from those who don't know anything about this model. Yes, the door needs to be left open to prevent mold but it has a magnetic hold-open latch that cracks it open about an inch, not enough to be in the way if you have a small laundry room (like I have). To close it all the way, you have to push it past the magnetic latch. It also has a self-clean cycle that can be run if it gets funky. I have not had any smell or mold build-up nor have I had to use the self-clean cycle, despite washing cloth diapers in this washer. This is an astronomically better washer than any Samsung front-loader. Why? Because the Samsung washers use a belt and pulley motor system, whereas this washer has a direct-drive motor. The result is more agitation options (more efficient cleaning) and much longer component life (the motor has a 10 year warranty on this model) Cycles take a fairly long time with this washer. If you're a Type A personality, then you're impatience will probably mean you can't have this washer, for the rest of us the cycle length is fine. This is a much larger capacity washer than my last one so I can get a lot more laundry done per load. Also, the spin cycle gets the clothes nearly dry, resulting in shorter dryer times. Hope that helps someone to make their decision. I'm an outdoor adventurer, science geek, classical guitarist, programmer, photographer, audiophile, and car nut, so I try to help the SD community by posting useful information in those areas.
