I bought from them on the last $25 sale. Key showed up the next morning and activated without issue. I had already bought my first copy of BL2 from GMG at their 37.50 sale. I'd much rather see someone buy a key this way than pirate a copy of the game, which still happens. I don't think buying the game this way is any different than people who wait for it to come out as a greatest hits version next year for 20 bucks. The year after that it will be 20 bucks for the GOTY version. They're still getting their 20 bucks from someone who, likely, wouldn't buy it at the ridiculous $60 price point they've forced games to now. Many of the people complaining are the same people that wouldn't buy this but wouldn't hesitate to buy a blu-ray trilogy from Amazon.UK for 1/5 of what we'd pay in the US. Why does it matter that they got an additional 20 from me and I'm American and not Russian? This will likely be 29.99 at Best Buy or Amazon on Black Friday but you won't see anyone complaining about ripping the devs or publisher off even though they got it at half price. I think it's ridiculous in the first place that the same digitally distributed product costs 3 times more in the US "because we can afford it." People here have been affected by the economy just like everywhere else and everyone likes to save money whether it's on groceries or video games. I certainly don't have any issues supporting Gearbox and 2k as I own 2 copies of BL1 on 360 plus all DLC and a 4 pack of GOTY off Steam for PC too, and I'm likely to buy more copies of BL2 as I can to get people into playing it with me as well as DLC for every copy.

If you're a conservative and hate taxes:
http://www.bestoftheblogs.com/Home/43020 Why slickdeals I awesome: I post a deal, it gets reposted 30 minutes later. I report the repost, and slickdeals warns me for "not doing my own work" when all the new poster did was post incomplete info and add links an hour after they blatantly stole my post. Obviously, this is the right way to encourage me to post more deals. |

This is called steam cracking down on it when they see hoards of people activating out of region on a brand new game over a very short period of time. So you can thank the OP and other OP's advertising these gray market deals as "100% legit", no risk etc.. getting everyone to buy them, for steam deciding to actually close the loophole. It was pretty inevitable. The only real question is whether they're going to pull the keys from everyone who were able to activate on steam before they region-locked it. Hopefully not, but I guess we'll see. This is why I advised against people wasting their money/time on these. Buying gray market goods isn't always a savings. |
