Thread Details

Amazon has a HID Kit by Kensun with Xenon Lights, 9006 bulb, 6000K color for $56.57 with free prime shipping or FSSS. Been looking for a good kit for my 4Runner and these carry a 2 year warranty. Better than the knock-offs on ebay.

Here is the manufactures website. Some good info about HID lights/kits http://kensun.com/index.htm

Let me clarify for maximmarkets

ANYONE who is looking at an HID Plug and play kit with REBASED bulbs (like EVERY PnP kit) is looking to install HID's in a headlight designed for halogens.

Someone with HID's stock, won't buy a kit with bulbs that have been rebased to fit in place of a halogen bulb. I didn't think I needed to clarify that people looking at this type of kit were looking to replace halogen bulbs, I suppose I shouldn't give people that much credit.

If you want a quality product with a 5 year warranty buy a kit from www.theretrofitsource.com
Slim ballasts aren't always good. I've read that the DDM slim ballasts don't last long. I put a set on my wife's car, but I swapped out the headlight housings with the xenon headlights offered for the car.

BarryT82 - I did the same thing with my Subaru (I used retrofitsource's "retro qwik system") proper HID optics with bulbs and OEM style ballasts.

A "Full Retrofit" (optics included) is the best way to upgrade lighting and prevents the failings associated with a plug n play kit.

Better than knock offs on eBay ? So these are LEGIT ? And yes I also hate those people that put these " HID " PnP in your halogen projector housing. You wouldn't like it if someone was behind blinding you with some crazy glare.

I hate when people have super bright HID's AND their lights aren't properly leveled so it lights up the damn sky.

newbie question:

So in order to use HID, I have to purchase a separate set of projector headlight assembly so that i will blind no one, right?

Yup, they are jerks. Or morons. Or a combination thereof.

it's not hard to properly install hids into non-hid housings... it takes an extra couple hours of work and about 30 seconds of thought

Might also need to bend a little piece of metal in front of the bulb.. at any rate, it's a shame this deal gets down voted because morons don't install it properly. For a full kit like this in a non-offensive color, it won't get much better...

If you have money and want better reliability,I would just buy the philips one .. i had better experiences with them then ddmtuning hid, and those other china made generic hid ballast.

But course the philips one do cost an arm and leg compared to those china made one.
Though the Philips ballast hid are made from Germany.

Also I see MOSTLY hondas & toyota putting these china made HID with no housing projectors and it blinds everyone on the streets at night.

Some cars come with stock OEM HID ballast. The "ricers" are the one who have over 4300-6000k and want blue-purple bright ass weird colors.
