While I'm familiar with the Optima card by name, I'm not with it's benefits. Is it even worth keeping? Aren't there better Amex Credit Cards that are worth converting to?

i'm not paying an annual fee and it's still accruing the points for rewards. i don't use the card much and only spent around 450$ on it last month and received a little over 200 points. not quite as amazing as the days of runs on the us mint, but as long as it's free and awarding me rewards, then i don't see why it would be worth converting. Big Grin

Granted I've only seen an Amex Blue (the clear one) in the wild at Costco too, but just saying that the Optima is pretty rare nowadays. If no fee and you still get points..why not?

Yes and no. The "length of credit history", as far as how long they have information for you, will probably still reflect how old that account was. The account itself will remain on your report for years, but it will be marked as "CLOSED PER CONSUMER'S REQUEST" or something along those lines. But since it will no longer be an open credit line, it could negatively impact your score, especially if that's your oldest account and the second oldest is much more recent. Creditors like to see how old active accounts are.

If you open up another account, it will show up as a completely independent entry on your CR.
