What's the worst that could happen?

Not a zit thread...sorry.

Some people think that the scariest thing about a government overthrow would be the anarchy that ensues. But, I've been thinking....what's the worst thing that could happen that doesn't already happen on a daily basis now? If you're skeptical, maybe you can catch the red-eye flight into Detroit or Chicago and take a peek for yourself.

I don't want this to be political (who did what, pointing fingers, etc.)...but just trying to imagine any scenarios that are much worse than what we're in today.

Seriously doubt it. In fact, I'm inclined to believe that the opposite would happen. I think it would actually be more peaceful / less crime than what there is now. I think there are tons of a-holes out there that act the way they do because they know that the majority of us law abiding citizens will likely just turn a blind eye and avoid any confrontation so that we do get ourselves in trouble with some stupid, piddly ass law. However, when society feels as though they have to fend for themselves, and all the a-holes know it, the a-holes know that society likely isn't going to tolerate the BS anymore.

In other words... Do you think all of the laws today hinder the common person or the criminal more? I'll give you hint...the criminal doesn't give a shit either way, because he know's he is protected from the law abiding citizens by the veil of justice....I wonder though if the criminal would feel as safe if those safeguards weren't in place? .....kinda like the little kid who punches his big brother and then runs and hides behind mom...what if mom weren't there?

Well, if Obama gets elected again there is a good chance he will begin to lay the groundwork for taking away the guns from the citizens. If that happens we will get a chance to find out.

Well, since Barry won't have to worry about another election, and since he has clearly shown no interest in limiting his ambitions to what congress will do I would say it is a pretty safe bet that he will be even more likely to continue to do things on his own without regard to the Constitution.

I think you're rather naive as to the depths of depravity humanity would sink to, should the government ever break down. Just look at other countries where the government has failed or was overthrown.

I've had a series of very deep conversations about just this sort of thing, brought on more by the dystopian features out of Hollywood than any real thought of modern-day government overthrow, and I honestly believe that what would take place would be localized governments forming pretty much as they already exist, with a lower tolerance for criminal behavior than what we have today.

Having witnessed the human capacity for decency and compassion for one another during the week+ long power outages after the tornadoes of April 27th, 2011, I have faith that society would not only be okay without the overarching hand of our ubiquitous federal government, but would, in fact, flourish without it.

I absolutely agree that many people think it would be akin to the scariest Hollywood plots where chaos ensues, and the ground collapses underneath us. I'm not so naive to believe that it would all be rainbows and unicorns either though. There are always going to be the bad apples who try and take advantage of any scenario for personal gain, but I'd like to believe that they would be few and far between. We ALWAYS come together for our brothers and sisters in times of need. I have been through many hurricanes here in Florida, and if I had a dime for every person I saw walking up and down the street with a chainsaw, rake, or wheelbarrow, I'd be set for life. For the majority of us, it's just in our nature. Unfortunately though, complacency sets in, and we all seem to go back to our alienated way of life...other than a few friends, family members, etc. This would be the hardest part, IMO....maintaining the momentum of unity long enough to put a new system in place that actually treats everyone the same, regardless of race, gender, wealth, stature, or political position.
