HP ENVY 15-3217NR for $999 with HD Radiance 1920 Display Upgrade !!!! Lowest in history

I believe the orange panel issue for the 1080p display has been fixed in newer shipments as HP changed the panel.

I heard the panels got updated with the Ivy bridge refresh. So since this is a Ivy bridge processor , chances are that this is an updated panel .

You can get an Envy 17 for about $50 more from the HP website, with a significantly faster 7850m and a blu-ray drive, if you don't mind the size/weight. I'd recommend either - Envies (if you get a good one) have the best build quality I've seen of non-Mac laptops.

I bought this laptop at launch, and returned it within 10 days. It is an incredible laptop with one fatal flaw: the upgraded IPS panel CAN NOT display red (a primary color, last I checked), as others have already mentioned.

HP was so close to nailing it with this one... but so far. And worse than the fact that they dropped the ball in the first place is the fact that they basically refused to acknowledge and/or adequately fix the issue.

Anyway, just a fair warning to those considering this deal.

In general, are the Intel 3rd generation laptops considered the latest versions from computer vendors, meaning this is one of the newer versions from HP and hence, wouldn't have the old defect? I always thought it was the Intel 2nd generation HP 15 envy that had the issues.

5.79 lbs, too heavy. Can hp make a Envy 15 below 5 lbs??

I hadn't heard/read that they stopped using the flawed LG panels. If it's true, that's great.
