I bought this set a few weeks back and it's without a doubt the best picture of any tv I have. I have some nice sets. You guys are gonna hate me but this is the deal I managed. Price match $888 fry's price at sears and sears had a $300 gift card with purchase. Little over $600 out the door. Sweet deal. But the TV is worth full retail, that's how good it is.

They gave you a $300 gift card? Did it have to be a purchase of a TV or because you spent a certain amount..?

My TV showed up yesterday. I hooked it up last night and messed around with the settings. Out of the box, the presets give the picture a big-time soap opera look. I was worried at first, but I went into advanced settings and turned off all the video processing effects. After that the picture looked normal, so that was a relief. I'm still tweaking the basic settings, but after watching part of a movie and some football/baseball, I have to say the picture is pretty good. The wifi Netflix came in clear. The browser is a joke and not useful at all. The black levels are decent for an edge lit TV. Color is OK, but not as good as my Panasonic G10 plasma. In fact overall my 3 year old plasma's picture still blows this thing away. The plasma really heats up though, so I didn't want to put that over my fireplace. I think I'll be happy with this new Panasonic and especially with the price I paid. I looked at Samsungs and Sony's and just couldn't justify paying $1500 on up just to get local dimming and few other bells and whistles. For only $844, I'm more than satisfied with how this TV looks.

Has anyone been able to connect it up to DirecTV and get 1080p? Mine only lights up at 1080i

DirecTV is only 1080p for the on-demand paid movies, not on regular broadcasts.

Would someone kindly tell me how to connect audio out from this tv to my home theater system? I see a digital audio out jack on the back of the tv, but I don't know what kind of cable is needed. Thanks in advance.
