You have another option. You can just transfer your stocks to another account of the same type via an ACAT transfer. That way, you save money on the sell comission for each stock you own. If you have 10 stocks, thats $100 gone in comission. Also, TD Ameritrade charges you to close an account. I don't know if it is $75.

What I have done before is open an account with OptionsHouse using a promo code they have for ACAT transfers. Basically they give you $100 if you open a NEW account and ACAT transfer the funds into this new account. That way the closing of the TD Ameritrade account is free. In your case I don't know if they would give you $100 for each account you own in TD Ameritrade. Call them and ask them to see if they will. Also, I use SigFig to track my investments and it is the best tool out there for this. I use Mint to track my whole financial picture, but they lack in the investment side. I wish Mint and SigFig merged into a single entity, that would be sweet. But SigFig rocks in terms of looking at all your portfolios from a single website.
