I think sanfran22 is arguing that even if homosexuality is biologically normal, the human beings have the sentience and intelligence to reject it consciously, just as human beings have the sentience and intelligence to reject the eating of animal flesh consciously.

If we take "the religious aspect out of it" then we're left with a non-harm liberty. As a society, we have a good bit of paperwork documenting and preserving the rights of individuals to exercise such liberties. We accept and protect the liberty of others to ensure that our own liberties are protected. We accept that some people may choose to love people of the same sex in the exact same way that we accept that some people may choose to love people of different faiths or different ethnicities, or people who are left handed.

Acceptance is really quite easy. All it takes is leaving people to live their lives as they choose. You don't actually have to do anything.

I've never said they couldn't do as they choose. I have said I will not acknowledge the act and they do not deserve, by any means, the right to force their lifestyle on anyone else for any reason.

what doesn't work any other way? reproduction? is reproduction capable of intending something? if the act of reproduction is capable of intending something, should we cede to its intentions, if those intentions are in conflict with other intentions?

First, there are many biological attributes that are "abnormal". Whether it be having green eyes, being left handed, being redhead or whatever. Being abnormal doesn't render you incapable of being a parent or having basic civil rights.

Second, it isn't incompatible with life. Just like straight people, gay people can live good, productive lives. They can have great, loving families and friends. They can raise children, even children with their own DNA. They're everyday people who go through life just like you, only with a lot less bigotry and they don't waste their time trying to restrict the rights of others.

What is amazing is the fixation people like you have on gay people. Despite the intent of gays to merely seek the right to live their life with the same legal right and protections of straight people... despite the complete and utter lack of any tangible impact on the lives of straight people (other than nicer neighborhoods, funny TV shows, better style, etc.)... despite glaring problems straight people have with marriage... despite being people who love blowing up other countries to "spread freedom"... despite the fact that their religious beliefs would be better focused on helping the poor, underprivileged, etc.... despite all that and more, you waste incredible amounts of time, effort and resources fighting the losing cause of maintaining gay/lesbian second class citizenship status.

My advice is to focus this energy on something far more productive. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen. Go be a big brother or big sister. Go read with your kids. Hell, go mow the lawn. Do SOMETHING productive. Do SOMETHING other than waste your time trying to bring people down who don't deserve it.
